New Websites
November 11, 2006
I’ve created two new websites for my school. And, while you might think that if you don’t go to my school this post isn’t for you, you are wrong.
One website is all about outreach opportunities in the area. And, while you might not be able to do these specific things, they might spark some ideas about how to be involved in your own community.
The second website is all about living ecologically friendly lives (living green if you will). While there are some specifics aimed at this community, it has so many links and ideas for how to live more environmentally sound lives that no matter who you are or where you live you find something to help you make the earth last a little longer.
And, even if none of that appeals to you, you should still check it out because I made them and they’re pretty for my first websites with multiple pages.

I liked the websites.
The “Footprint” exercise was interesting. (One of the links from the ecology site.) I came out at 14 acres. This is significantly less than the 24 acre average in the U.S., but obviously I’m a pig in considering the resources of this earth.
In trying to justify my piggyness, I checked to see how many acres per person we have in the county where I live (central Kansas). We have 68 acres per person here. It’s a semi-arid region, with about 19″ of precipitation per year. Cattle outnumber the people. 12% of the population is below the poverty line.
