An Experiment

February 28, 2006

It’s possible that I haven’t posted in awhile.

It’s possible that’s because I have very little free time in my life and what little I do have I choose to use watching Season Three of the Gilmore Girls (hello, can we say addicted) or doing crossword puzzles online (please refrain from the dork comments - it makes Theology lectures go by MUCH faster).

All of these things (by which I mean both of these things) are possible. And, if they are, it’s possible this situation won’t change for awhile, so, well, sorry, sucks to be you, but it sucks to be me even more, so buck up.

In the meantime, I intend to tell you about an experiment I conducted this year with regard to preaching. I decided to write three sermons about the same text for three different contexts. The first was a class on Preaching Gospel Narratives. The second was in response to my trip to Jamaica. And the third was for a church service last Sunday at the church where I intern.

I don’t intend to conduct this experiment again. Especially with a text like the Transfiguration. But, should you be interested, two of the three sermons (the two that were actually preached) are online over there on the right.

There Are Not Words is the one I wrote for class in the fall. The Difficulty of Doing Nothing is the one I preached this past Sunday.

There you have it. Should I find massive amounts of freedom and engaging things about which to blog, I promise to. Until then . . .

I’m curious how you are doing online crosswords in Theology — did they finally get wireless acess over there, or can you download them? If it’s downloadable, where might i get them — this could be a very good thing!

I was a list maker in Theology — lots and lots and lots of to-do lists! Crosswords makes so much more sense.

i open them in firefox before i go to class and then you can fill them out in class - they’re still interactive, even if you’re not online, they’ll tell you if you have wrong letters or whatever. i highly recommend. http://www.uclick.com/client/rdc/fcx/
