Ah The Sweet Nectar of One’s Own Words

September 20, 2006

I don’t know why some people use the phrase ‘eat their words’ derogatively. I don’t know about you, but my words are sweet and true and I have no problem eating them. They came out sweetly the first time and are just as sweet to eat again.

It’s true that when Adam bought red crocs last summer I mocked him mercilessly. And, I stand by my words. Crocs are the strangest, oddest, goofiest looking shoes/sandals I have ever encountered. And, my otherwise handsome husband, looks strikingly like a clown when he wears them.

What I didn’t anticipate, however, was how comfy these shoes/sandals would be. It’s amazing. So comfortable. And so, after many hours of weighing comfy versus cute, I gave in and let Adam buy me a pair of pale blue crocs. They’re horrendously goofy looking, but I only wear them around the house or when my feet are particularly sore or tired.

And so, while I did eat my words about never buying a pair of crocs, I must say they were delicious words full of truth and wit both the first time and the second.

So there.

P.S. Why pale blue you ask? Because wearing crocs is like walking on a cloud so it might as well look that way too . . . :)

I’m with you on the bright red Crocs. They look goofy enough when they’re a more subdued color, let alone bright red that screams out for people to notice that you’re trying to copy Krusty the Klown. Hooray for your sky blue Crocs. Boo for the Crocs that scare little children with clown issues.
