A Rant
April 8, 2005
I apologize in advance – this is going to be a rant. I’ve been trying not to write this post for weeks now, basically since I started a blog, but I just can’t hold it in any longer. I must share.
AND USE YOUR DIRECTIONALS – THEY’RE THERE FOR A REASON!!!!
I feel like it is a southern phenomenon, this not using directionals, but maybe I’m just being a dumb Yankee. Either way I must say, I dislike it intensely. I’m not a directional nazi – if no one is around, I don’t care if you use them or not. But if you have to slow down to turn, or if you are going to cut me off in Atlanta traffic – use the damn directional!!
Okay. So these are two separate situations: if you have to slow down to turn, use a directional, it’s only polite. Otherwise, I get irritated because you are slowing down for no reason, and (obviously) there is no reason for that.
Second Situation: if you are going to cut me off in the middle of Atlanta traffic, use a directional. This is mostly for the sake of my life. I don’t know to slow down and let you in if you don’t tell me you’re coming over into my lane. And, I might just choose that moment to speed up. So you can see – you need to use directionals. And, it really ticks me off when you don’t, which throws me into road rage mode and that is just not pretty.
Now for the second rant: if you are driving – drive. If you can talk on your cell phone or text message people while driving in such a way that I can’t tell – go for it. But (and trust me on this) YOU CAN’T!!!!
I know, you think you’re the exception to the bad driving rule. But, everyone thinks they’re the exception to the bad driving rule. So . . . You’re probably not.
I’m tired of people driving excessively slow or swerving into my lane because they’re on a cell phone or text messaging someone. If you need to talk that badly – pull over. Get a headset, I don’t care – just stop making my driving experience so obnoxious. I like driving and you’re wrecking it. So stop!!
That’s all. Thanks. I feel a little better.
